DON'T PRAY FOR MORE MEMBERS

Tayo Onaleye

Luk 10:2 Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.

Dear Minister....

Don't just pray for more members to be added to the flock......pray more importantly for MORE LABOURERS.

Of course it is members who transition into labourers.

But our focus and priorities must be very clear: it takes people with a readiness to work to get the job done.

Neh 4:6 So built we the wall; and all the wall was joined together unto the half thereof: for the people had a mind to work.

You may have loads of consumer members and the work will still not be done because they don't have the mind to work. They are there  to CONSUME rather than to CONTRIBUTE.

You must remember that one COMMITTED person is more powerful than a hundred who are merely INTERESTED.

Soul winning is a serious work with heavy responsibilities.

It takes people who have the mind to work to get it done.

These are the people Jesus referred to as labourers.

These are the people who get the job done.

They recognize the need of the hour and are willing to get the work done.

TWO ATTRIBUTES OF KINGDOM LABOURERS

1. THEY HAVE A PERSONAL LOVE RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS

When the chips are down, it's all about Jesus.

Mark 3.14  And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach,

First and foremost, kingdom labourers are people who are personally committed to Jesus. They are with Him.

Their work in the kingdom is a personal response to the call of Jesus in the spirits. Their labour is an external expression of an internal commitment.

They're not volunteers with "casual worker mindset" doing the pastor or the church a favour. They are "servants of Jesus doing the will of God from the heart." Ephesians 6.6

The service group they belong to is the platform through which they are personally serving Jesus.

For them, kingdom labour is a personal love offering to Jesus. It's very personal.....between Jesus and them.

2. THEY PAY THE PRICE

Luk 14:27 And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.

Kingdom labour places a high demand on people. It is a high calling with a high price to pay. It is highly demanding.

There's a cross to carry and a price to pay.

Kingdom labourers with the spirit of Jesus know that this work can never be done by CONVENIENCE but rather by COMMITMENT.

That's why the sweet psalmist of Israel said, "......Nay; but I will surely buy it of thee at a price: neither will I offer burnt offerings unto the LORD my God of that which doth cost me  nothing....." 2Sa 24:24

Kingdom labourers know that there's a price to pay and they pay it joyfully from their hearts.

Neh 4:6 So built we the wall; and all the wall was joined together unto the half thereof: for the people had a mind to work.

1Cor 15. 58  Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

Let us  not just pray for more members.

Let us pray for MORE LABOURERS

Because.....

The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few.

Peace unto you in Jesus name.
